It is Day 13 of the Enhanced Community Quarantine here in Luzon, Philippines.
The ECQ is our government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
So we folks from the Spanish Language Meetup of the Philippines – Quezon City Group decided to take the Meetup online! 😎
The first time we did that was March 15, Sunday. We were experimenting. We started on Discord, tinkered with Viber, and then moved to Zoom.
On March 22, we had our second online meetup via Zoom. It was pretty good. 😉

Then today, March 29, we did it on Discord since there’s no time limit to the voice chats there and it was easy to create new channels.
We had Ricardo from Spain come and teach us. What a treat! 😊

Attendance for the online meetups we’ve had have been good so far. We even had some new folks join us. 👍
Would you like to hang out with us online? 😏
We normally meet every other Sunday in person, but due to this Enhanced Community Quarantine we’ve been meeting online every Sunday, 3-5PM, GMT+8 Manila Time.
The purpose of the Meetup is to practice our Spanish speaking and listening skills. ☝
Come join us! It doesn’t matter what your Spanish language level is. It doesn’t matter where in the world you are. Everyone is welcome!
Find us on Meetup.com or on our Facebook Group and watch out for the announcements! No need to confirm your attendance. Just come! 😎
Before you go, check out some VIDEOS of WHAT IT’S LIKE at our IRL or in-person meetups:
- Spanish Language Meetup – Christmas 2019: We celebrate. We eat. We play. We learn a few things too.
- Crappy Video #003 – Spanish Language Meetup (January 2020): We normally meet at our host Robert’s office.
- Crappy Video #004 – Mi presentación en español: Every meetup one or two people volunteer to do a short, 2-minute presentation about any topic they choose. This is one example.
- Crappy Video #011 – ¡Juguemos!: Sometimes we just like to talk… and play! (Nobody had a presentation that day.)
- Crappy Video #014 – El día del San Valentín con Spanish Language Meetup (February 2020): We read, and attempted to understand, some Spanish poetry.
- Crappy Video #016 – ¿Adónde fuimos?: Sometimes plans change and we have to move and have our meetup someplace else. We’re very flexible.
And here is the text of a short presentation I did last year “Mi pequeña presentación acerca de Mastodon y Slowly“. 🙃
